I highly recommend Michael and his online courses. I got my SDiT prospect (lab + pitbull mix) when she was 13 weeks old and I did a lot of my own research in dog training, but having the help of a professional makes a huge difference in our results and our progress.
His instructional videos are clear and break down training into specific actionables. His training method works for anything, and up to now I am still using his training methods. My dog is 1 year old now and I worked with Michael for the first 6 weeks I had my puppy.
In addition to the videos, we met weekly to discuss any questions or issues I was running into with my specific puppy. He was flexible with meeting times and we didn’t have to meet every week if we didn’t need to, saving the session for later. During the week, he was responsive to texts and emails whenever I had questions or a video to send him. I took videos of my training throughout the week which he reviewed prior to meetings. We rescued two mixed breed terriers in August 2021, and while we love these little brothers, they were difficult to control in our house, but especially on the street. They were highly reactive, and barked and charged at other dogs, and at our neighbors. This was difficult for us, as we are not young, and...we were aware of the judgement of our neighbors. We worked with Michael on Zoom for several weeks, and sent him occasional videos, and took the pups for a walk using our phone as a camera so that he could see the behavior.
We appreciated the fact that Michael works from a supportive, reward-based philosophy, which was easy for us to follow. It felt much better than constant correction/scolding. We learned to look for cues from the pups, and their behavior has improved markedly. We will continue to use his philosophy and train the dogs consistently.
Besides giving us good counsel, Michael is friendly and pleasant, and he laughed at our jokes...a prime consideration on this end. We would recommend using Michael as a support, and excellent trainer.
